The Therapy Compass
I've come to view therapy as moving across four cardinal directions that have become what I call The Therapy Compass. I created this as a tool for those of us in therapy, and/or providing therapy, to remind us that sometimes, the work looks different depending on the direction we need to move towards at a given moment. It may look like noticing things or feelings sooner, responding to ourselves and others differently, recovering with more care, and having more choices about what comes next. All of this work is valuable, and we may find ourselves needing to choose one direction or another at various points of our therapy journey. Use this resource to check in with yourself if you are in therapy, or with your client if you are a therapist, to see what kind of therapeutic work might be needed in the moment.
